1903- born in India.
1911- went to St Cyprian's School.
1912-  moved back to England Eastbourne.
1917- won a scholarship to Eton.
1921- 1921 he joined the British police in Burma.
 1927- resigned.
1928- journeyed to Paris.
1932-1933 worked as a teacher in a private school.
1933- first book was published, got a part time job in a second hand bookshop, first novel was published.
1935- had another novel published.
1936- published the Aspidistra Flying, married to Eileen ,commissioned  to write a book about poverty in northern England, to fight in the Spanish Civil War
1937- published the Road to Wigan Pier.
1938-  published A Homage to Catalonia, suffering from tuberculosis
1939- published another novel,Coming up For Air.
1941 to 1943- worked for the BBC.
1943- became literary editor for the Tribune a left wing magazine.
1945- published his great satire Animal Farm.
1949- published his masterpiece health was 'failing his health'
1949-married his second wife Sonia.
1950- died on 21 January at age 46.
